Farrier Leather – An Organized Handbag

I first heard of Farrier Leather two years ago when I was having coffee with a friend. She wanted to design the perfect handbag – perfect for busy moms using the bags, perfect for the workers making the bags, and even perfect for the cows providing the leather. That is quite a lofty goal.
Amazingly, she did just that.
Everything about Farrier Leather handbags says eco-friendly. The leather is sourced from pasture-raised cows and dyed using a vegetable tanning process. The cotton lining is certified organic. The bags are crafted in a New York factory that not only operates as a sustainable and zero-waste facility but also pays the workers a living wage. Farrier Leather believes in ethical treatment for all beings. I love that.
Most importantly though, the Farrier Leather handbags are beautiful and useful. The classic design will never go out of style. This is the kind of handbag that can be used for decades.
I borrowed the Lusitano bag from the founder to make sure this bag was something I wanted to endorse. After all, what good is a properly sourced bag if it isn’t functional? Guys, this bag exceeded my expectations. Every single detail was expertly planned and executed. I have to send this one back, but will be ordering one of my very own.
Lusitano – Farrier Leather
The Lusitano handbag is perfect for anyone who wants to carry a good bit of stuff but also wants it to be organized. This bag held up to all parts of my day – early morning gym classes, homeschool co-op, library visits, and even trick or treating at my husband’s office party.
There are a plethora of perfectly placed pockets to keep everything organized and within reach.
Pockets

- 1 inner large zippered (I kept my wallet in this part)
- 3 inner medium
- 1 inner large – large enough to hold my computer AND my kids’ computer
There was room for the regular mom purse stuff (snacks, wallet, phone, first aid kit, tissues, and lip gloss), but also my gym stuff (hand towel and water bottle) and school stuff (2 computers, pens, earbuds, and dry erase board). That is a ton of stuff! Everything had a specific home though, so it stayed organized and neat. . . which means everything was easy to find.
If you decide that some days you don’t need the organizational pocket, it zips out! There is a hidden zipper that goes around the entire bag so the interior can be removed. That would also come in handy if you need to wash the liner. You can also attach a longer handle if you prefer to carry the bag on your shoulder.
The Lusitano handbag closes with two overlapping leather flaps. They are held close with hidden magnets. I discovered that my key ring stuck right to one of the magnets, which made it easy to always find my keys. The closure system keeps the contents hidden, but still easily accessible.

The Pasofina clutch might be small, but it is still beautifully organized. There is dedicated space for the contents of your wallet, as well as a cell phone, key, and lip gloss. The strap is long enough to be worn crossbody. This clutch would be perfect for walking around town or a night out.
The Garrano bag is an unlined shopper tote. It holds an unbelievable 50 lbs! That would work for library visits, patronizing your local farmer’s market, or even a Target shopping stop. There is a pocket in this bag that is perfect for holding a laptop. It is a simple bag that was designed to maintain the functionality.
