About Me
Hi, I’m Jennifer!
I have experience as a public school teacher, homeschool administrator and teacher, and private school teacher. I am passionate about giving students an educational experience that is both strongly academic and enjoyable.
I was a kindergarten teacher before my children were born. I left the classroom to be a stay-at-home mom when my daughter was born. When she was six we stumbled into homeschooling after a negative public school experience. We expected to only homeschool until the following school year.
It turned out that everyone in my family loved the experience and we didn’t want to stop. We just finished our 15th year homeschooling. Both of my children have now graduated from our homeschool and are full-time college students.
My goal is to help homeschool families find encouragement and awesome lesson ideas. You will find blog posts featuring time-saving tips, organizational strategies, homeschool book lists, and homeschool curriculum reviews. My absolute favorite ways to teach are:
- Good literature
- Hands-on lessons
- Field trips
I incorporate these characteristics into my lesson plans as much as possible.
I am also the founder of the Strong Foundations Homeschool Partnership in Apex NC. I teach small-group kindergarten classes several times a week, while also acting as a homeschool mentor for the parents.

Where this all began
When I first began homeschooling my oldest child, I expected it to only last a year. Then she would return to the classroom as a student, and I would return to the classroom as a teacher. Instead, we decided to keep going until it stopped working for our family. 15 years later, I think it is safe to say that we love this homeschooling lifestyle.
When homeschool friends learned that I had been a certified teacher, they began asking lots of questions. I began this website as a way to share what we were doing and help other families.
