My kids are big fans of the Where’s Waldo books. They can spend quite a long time searching for the sneaky striped character. These classic books are great exercises in patience and visual distinction. One day I found similar educational hide and seek books at a local used book store. I actually like these books better than the well known Waldo variety.
I take advantage of these fun educational books by including them in either seasonal book baskets or boredom busting baskets. I find that these books frequently coordinate well with our history or geography lessons.

This book is set up as if the reader is going on an amazing world tour. Each two page spread features another amazing destination with plenty of things to find. For example, in the Japan section, children are encouraged to find sushi, 20 school children with backpacks, 16 kimonos, 3 bullet trains, a capsule hotel, and other culturally appropriate items. Children will actually learn about other regions of the world and their cultures as they work their way through the book.

Children are introduced to various time periods around the world while they search for historically and culturally appropriate objects. They might try to find a two-handled jar at a Greek market in 450BC or an elephant at an Indian wedding in 1600.
