Target Dollar Spot Deals

Does anyone else have a Target Dollar Spot addiction? It is so hard to pass up things when they are only $1! I love Target and went at least once a week before our move. Now my closest Target is 25 minutes away so I don’t go as often. Until this week I hadn’t been to Target in two months! I knew I had to go now though. Back to school sales are out and the Target Dollar Spot is always brimming with good deals this time of year.
I highly recommend that all parents, not just teachers and homeschoolers, check out the Target Dollar Spot in July and August. There is a huge variety of school supplies, organizational items, and educational toys.
I reigned myself in and only bought items that I know I can use. I am still searching for the right furniture for my homeschool space so I resisted the urge to buy all of the cute teacher decor items.
Here is what I actually bought –
Flashcards – The flashcards are only $1! Flashcards are great to have on hand for boredom buster baskets. I picked up a Flags of the World set for an Olympic basket I am working to put together. These flashcards are numbered, which is a huge help in keeping them organized. Target also has alphabet, sight words, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division flash cards.
Dry-erase labels – These will be great for labeling notebooks, binders, bins, and baskets. They are repositionable so I can use them over and over! The labels are 4 labels for $1. You can buy an all white sheet or a multicolored sheet. Or do like I did and buy several of each.
File folders – These file folders are cute and colorful. Why buy boring file folders when they can have a bit of whims? They are standard size and are 3 for $1. I plan to let each child choose a folder so they can keep track of their writing projects.
Highlighters – They serve the same function as a regular highlighter, but they are cute. There are 3 highlighters per pack for $1. I am planning to work with Hannah on note-taking skills this year so highlighters are a must.
Dry-erase lapboard – I have a few of these dry-erase lapboards already and we use them almost daily. I write our science copy work on these so the kids can both copy science definitions at the same time. They are great for handwriting practice too. I have seen these at teacher stores for a lot more, but at the Target Dollar Spot they are only $1 each.
Workbooks – Target has a ton of dry-erase workbooks geared for preschool – first grade. I chose a printing practice workbook, but there were many phonics and math books available. Workbooks can be a great addition to boredom buster baskets. They are currently $1.
Blank books – I am very excited about this find. These books are perfect for writing and illustrating short stories. They would also make good nature journals. The pages are blank so the opportunities are endless. There are 8 books in a pack for $3. I only bought one pack, but kinda wish I bought more to last the entire school year.
Dry-erase pockets – Dry-erase pockets are great for conserving paper. I can print one copy of a worksheet and let both kids take turns answering the questions. I might add a maze, word search, or connect the number puzzle to the dry-erase pocket and put it in the boredom buster basket. This is another item that I have seen at teacher stores for considerably more money.
There were so many other amazing deals too! The Target Dollar Spot also had pocket charts, sentence strips, calendars, lesson plan books, small chalk boards, clip boards, pencils, pens, name tags, stamps, and ink pads. They even had dry-erase wall world and USA maps!
For the preschool crowd, the Target Dollar Spot had lacing cards, rhyming match up games, beginning reader books, and puzzles.
While you are in Target, swing by the school supply section in the back of the store to pick up extra crayons, markers, and scissors. This is the cheapest they will be all year so stock up!
