Sight words are high frequency words. Learning to read these words can boost reading fluency and confidence.

This simple sight word folder method will help kids boost their reading skills in only 10 minutes a day.

All you need is a folder, 7 pocket envelopes, index cards, a marker, and a list of sight words.

1. Let your child decorate the front of the folder. This is their personal folder so it can be decorated anyway they like.

2. Number the pocket enveleopes and arrange them inside of the folder. Make two rows.

3.Write one sight word on each index card. There are 220 Dolch sight words.

4. Put the first 10 cards (easiest) in pocket number 1. Store the others in a bag nearby.

5. Ask your child to read the cards. Cards that are read correctly move to the next pocket. Cards that are not read correctly do not move forward.

6. Add enough index cards to the first pocket so that there are 10 cards again.

7. Repeat this process every day. It should take no more than 10 minutes a day.
