4 Fun Agent Lion Activities

Agent Lion is a cute story about a lion detective. This silly detective is tasked with finding the Flamingo family’s pet cat, Fluffy. He is available, but perhaps not the best detective. Never the less, he tries really hard. After several silly setbacks Fluffy is reunited with her family.
Kids will find all of the mishaps hilarious.

Create a Map of Your Neighborhood
Agent Lion takes an interesting route through the neighborhood to get to the Flamingo residence. The author and illustrator let us see a map of the neighborhood with all of the neighborhood landmarks marked. The roundabout way that Agent Lion goes to the apartment gives us a little bit of insight into the mind of the detective.
After examining the map in the book, let’s create our very own maps.
First, we need to gather a large piece of paper. I like to keep rolls of easel paper handy for projects like this.
Next help your child add your neighborhood streets. If you live in a large neighborhood, you might want to choose just a few streets.
Now it is time to add landmarks. Kids always seem to notice interesting things around town. Landmarks could include shops, friends’ homes, parks, or even a favorite tree.
Identifying landmarks on a map is a typical kindergarten skill.
Have an Agent Lion Snack
Agent Lion and all of the neighbors have a sweet tea time after Fluffy is found. They enjoy a tea time with the detectives favorite snack, jelly doughnuts!
I’m sure kids will have no objections to having a sweet tea time.
If your kids are not fans of jelly doughnuts (mine are not), then consider letting them decorate their own doughnuts. Bake doughnuts, or buy plain doughnuts, and set out a variety of toppings. Our favorite toppings for a doughnut bar include:
- Chocolate syrup
- Caramel sauce
- Frosting
- Shredded coconut
- Sprinkles
- Chocolate chips
Go on a scavenger hunt
If reading Agent Lion makes kids want to be a detective, consider taking them on a scavenger hunt.
I like this free printable indoor scavenger hunt from Play Party Plan because the items to find are generic. Having generic items listed means that kids get to really think about what they want to choose.

Go Find It
Practice phonological awareness by playing the Go Find It game from All About Learning. Simply print the binoculars on cardstock paper and cut them out. Then print the picture cards.
Kids will find and point out items that begin with whatever sound you name.
