Make a Turkey Suncatcher with Kwik Stix

I like to set these paint sticks out on my dining room table with a pack of construction paper so my kids can create whenever the mood strikes. My children like to use the neon colors on black construction paper. The dark background really makes the colors pop.
I think the metallic colors are fantastic. They contain sparkly flecks. You get the shine of glitter, without the mess.

Make a Thanksgiving Turkey Suncatcher with Kwik Stix
Sunlight is in short supply in Western Washington this time of year, so I fling my blinds open every morning to let in any light I can find. We decided to use our Thin Stix to create a Thanksgiving turkey suncatcher.
1. Gather the materials.
The materials for this craft are simple. You will need:
- Thin Stix
- parchment paper
- brown construction paper
- scissors
- glue
- tape or a hole punch and ribbon
2. Use the Kwik Stix to decorate the parchment paper.
Paint large mess-free paint swatches on the sheet of parchment paper. The Thin Stix Creativity Pack offers plenty of color choices.
Any of the colors will look beautiful, but I love adding a few splashes of metallic paint. The gold and silver are just so sparkly and lovely – without the mess of actual glitter.
3. Cut out circles for a turkey body and head.
You will need one larger circle and another smaller circle.
I traced a salad plate and a mason jar lid onto the brown construction paper. Then cut the circles out. The larger circle will be the turkey body and the smaller circle will be the turkey head.
4. Cut feathers out of the painted parchment paper.
The painted parchment feathers will be the suncatcher part of the project. We free-handed the feather shapes.
5. Glue the feathers to the turkey body.
Arrange the parchment feathers in a way that is pleasing to your eye. We moved them around a bit until they felt just right. Then we squeezed a generous amount of glue onto the base of the feathers. Press the large circle onto the glue.
6. Glue the turkey head to the body.
Glue the small circle onto the larger circle. This will look as though you are looking at the turkey head-on.
7. Add detail to the turkey face.
Use the Thin Stix to add eyes, a beak, and a red gobbler to the turkey face. The Thin Stix paint dries almost instantly, but the glue does not, so let the turkey suncatcher rest for a few moments.
8. Hang up the turkey suncatcher.
We hung our turkey suncatchers in the window using tape. The tape will not stick to the parchment paper, but adding tape loops to the back of the construction paper body worked well for us.
Alternatively, you can punch a hole at the top of the middle feather and use string to hang up the turkey.
