Early on in my teaching days, I realized it was much more enjoyable to work with children’s excitement about the holidays than to try to contain it. That natural excitement will keep kids engaged in a way that is hard to recreate. That excitement can be contagious! You might find yourself having a great time too.

Combining holiday books with Christmas activities is a fun way to add a little holiday fun to our homeschools. I have always enjoyed reading holiday books with my kids. When they were younger, we would keep a big basket of Christmas books near the couch. We snuggled together, reading every day.

My kids have always seemed to learn through their stomachs. Munching on sweet treats kept them interested in listening to poetry from a young age. They even memorized animal cell organelles by creating a cell replica out of cake and candy.

This year, I wanted to combine Christmas activities with some of my favorite holiday picture books and sweet treats to create fun hands-on activities for the month of December. Fun Christmas activities + picture books + sweet treats are a great combination!
